August 2022, School Assistance Has Been Distributed

School assistance for Suci this month (20 August 2022) has been distributed - Photographed by Riche's collection

Welcome back to Ichikraft's project update. Today I am going to share the good news that I received last Saturday. What is it? The three children who are assisted by Ichikraft have gotten their monthly money!😉

School assistance for Uun this month (20 August 2022) has been distributed - Photographed by Riche's collection

On Saturday evening my dearest friend, Riche, sent me a message that Suci, Uun, and Novi came to her house and received their school assistance for this month (August 2022). Yeah, they come each month to Riche's house on the 20th. Sometimes they come together, but another time Uun will come alone as she has to attend two schools. On Sunday, I sent a message to Riche that I want Novi to start to think about what she gonna do after finish her high school. Riche also mentioned Novi enrolled finance program in her school which is good in my opinion. Indeed, I hope she will attend university to get Bachelor's degree in economics. However, as I talked about it before in the previous article, tuition fees alone are high in the country where I was born and raised when we are talking about higher level education, in this case, university life. Supplementary with room rent, cost of living, transportation, and other matters for instance buying textbooks, and money for projects or papers, make most poor parents give up their children from school. I have seen children who come from low-income families drop out and just hold primary school certificates. It is a regular scene in the place where I come from. Therefore, in Novi's case, as she attends high school since June this year, I want her to sharpen her mind to think further because 3 years in high school is a short glimpse. If she has a desire to continue her study at a university, right now she must make a plan because I can not help her forever. And there is a day when she must become independent.

Based on my friend's experience, in this case, Riche, after graduating from high school, she took a course in early education. Riche said if she had money of course she wanted to enroll university program directly. After the course ended, Riche took a job as a teacher at a local kindergarten. 2 or 3 years later, while working she was also studying in order to get an associate degree/ Diploma. Then she got married and started to run her own school. What I admire most about Riche is that she did not stop to continue her study even though have a new title as a wife and mother. Eventually, she finished her Bachelor's degree in education. If I account for it, in total to get Bachelor's degree, she needed 10 years. And until today, Riche still wants to upgrade her degree and skill. Amazing, right? Nothing is impossible. This is a great example for Novi to look up at Riche's experience. Yeah, maybe it takes a long journey just to get Bachelor's degree but do not easily give up.

So, speaking of which, same a month before, Uun and Suci, got IDR 175,000 each for their school assistance. Meanwhile Novi, she received IDR 300,000. In addition, IDR 100,000 for each one of the children to support their family. I hope even though only a small help, they are able to use the money wisely.

Many thanks to my dearest friend, Riche. Even without any compensation for working with me on this project yet, she is willing to give her hands to distribute the monthly money to those children.

July 2022, School Assistance Has Been Distributed

School assistance this month (July 2022) for Novi is IDR 300,000 additional IDR 100,000 to support her family and IDR 100,000 reward for her hard work at school - Photographed by Riche's collection

How have you been? Welcome back to Ichikraft Give and Care or Ichikraft Project that has been dedicated to assisting villager children along with another project in our earlier activity. The good news that I am going to share is the three children who have received our help had gotten their monthly money to support school matters.

School assistance this month (July 2022) for Uun is IDR 175,000 additional IDR 100,000 to support her family and IDR 100,000 reward - Photographed by Riche's collection

Last night my dearest friend, Riche, sent me a message that Uun, Novi, and Suci came to her house and got their assistance. On the 20th of each month, they make a visit to Riche's house in order to get their monthly assistance since Riche has a baby boy. If you are following our update you easily notice that in general, Riche was the one who made a visit to the children's houses. If I were them (Novi, Uun, and Suci), is not be a big deal to coming once a month to Riche's house compared to how meaningful this money is to support the school. I guess that is what is on their mind.

School assistance this month for Suci (July 2022) is IDR 175,000 additional IDR 100,000 and IDR 100,000 reward - Photographed by Riche's collection

Since last month the amount of money that Novi has received increased from IDR 175,000 to IDR 300,000 a month since she is now in high school. I hope she is able to manage the money so that her high school goes smoothly. To be honest, I do not know what is Novi's plan after graduating from high school. As she chose a specific high school (here in Singapore is the same as a polytechnic) my bet is that she wants to get the job as soon as possible after finishing school. Of course, I want her to continue studying at a university, however, without a scholarship, it is hard for her family to cover. As you all may know, there are some considerations when sending children to a university besides tuition fees, for instance, textbooks, money for projects or it could be assignments, cost of living monthly, rent room, regular transportation, seasonal transport, including health insurance when the kid needs a doctor. Lots of things to cover when talking to send children to a university especially a university in another region or island. No wonder, there are a number of children who come from low-income families who stop their studies, mostly only graduating from primary school, and some secondary school.

Back in my time, after my father lost his decent job, our family income was at the same level as Novi nowadays. Soon after doomsday for our family, my father started working at a factory as cheaper labor and did so many things in order not only to survive but tried his best to invest so that able sending me to university. I wrote it before in another article that my father made an investment in a business which led me to get school assistance monthly. Furthermore, my father took vantages from his big yards around the house by growing cassava, several fruit trees, and vegetables; and raising hens, ducks, goose, and goats. And my father extended his household income by opening a small business at home making banana and cassava chips when I was about in my second year of high school. Despite all those money income, one key that made my father succeeded building his financial and able to send me to study at a university was that he had never taken installment in anything! Many took installment for instance motorcycle, fridge, washing machine, big TV, appliances, and many other. You could say, we did not have these luxuries at home. Yeah, my father got insult from some people because there was no progress in my father's life until someday many shocked because it was surreal that I moved out not only from my father house and my region but to another island studying at a university. Something that I had learned from my father is that we would rather save money as much as possible for future than spend it on unnecessary things; we have to make priority. Unless we are born in silver spoon, that's different story. Thingking back about this time, there were lots of commitment and unaccounted sacrifices just to push me entering university and got my Bachelor degree. Hopefully, Novi, Uun, and Suci will grow as a strong girls.

Talking about two others children, Uun and Suci got the same amount of money each for their school; IDR 175,000 for each one of them. Supplementary, the three children (Uun, Novi, and Suci) received IDR 100,000 to support their family due to the COVID-19 situation; although the COVID-19 pandemic is getting better but I am willing to continue to assist their families as the prices goes up rapidly or you can say inflation occurs in every countries. As I mentioned in the article before, I supposed give them a reward about IDR 100,000 for each one of them for their hard work at school last month (June 2022). Unfortunately, my friend, Riche, forget about this detail because this is irregular event. Therefore, this month on July 2022, the reaward had already been distrbuted. I wish they feel happy and could use the reaward money to buy something such as cakes to enjoy it with family.😊

Many thanks to my lovely friend, Riche. Working with me in this project it means I could not offer anything or give her salary monthly yet needs high dedication. And she has this commitment! Thanks!🤗 Also I want to thank you for all of you who read our update monthly.🤩

June 2022, School Assistance Has Been Distributed

School assistance this month (June 20, 2022) for Novi is IDR 300,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family - Photographed by Richr's collection

It is been a while, how have you been? Hopefully, you are safe and sound!😊 It looks like the COVID-19 situation is much better than last year. I am relieved as I have tried to pull up myself together to prepare the plans that had been ruined by the strike of the deathly disease in early 2020 we call the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, nowadays, I have been busy.

School assistance this month (June 2022) has been distributed at Riche's house - Photographed by Riche's collection

Speaking of which, last evening my dearest friend sent me a message that told me three children who have received our assistance monthly came to her house and got their schools' money. I am happy to see their picture and notice that all of them is in good condition. This time, all three could make it together to visit Riche's house because many times one of them, Uun, has been busy catching up with the two schools she attends. Believe me, it is not piece of cake to study at two different academics. While other girls have always been busy with their phones such as chit-chat and updating pictures on social media, Uun studies hard and does her best for a better future. the other two, Suci and Novi, both are also busy. I remember, Riche mentioned that Novi helps their parent at the crop field after school and goes home at 5 PM sometimes a little longer. Because of this reason, I admire their courage and willingness to assist them. To be honest I do not like children who play social media for fun like many that I have seen, except for business purposes; maybe as starting a baking business and using Instagram for a free advertisement. I wrote before that to get Ichikraft Give and Care assistance, there are requirements; one of them hard-working personality. The reason behind this is that if we come from low-income families, it needs a bulk of work and massive effort to reach the dream or a better life in the future. In short words, it is not easy peasy. The journey is perilous.

School assistance this month (June 2022) for Uun is IDR 175,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family - Photographed by Riche's collection

If you are following Ichikraft Give and Care, you may notice that every time I put their pictures, none of them hold smartphones in their hand or play fun with on pictures. As far as I know, yes, their family has at least one cell phone, however, it is completely for communication. Furthermore, when the schools decided to go online, those children used this particular device to complete their assignments or sent homework to the teacher. Do not think that online school in the remote village is like in the city. Many schools in the village had been using social media for instance Instagram and Facebook to make the online school work as the students did have computers at home. Moreover, WhatsApp also contributed to the process of online learning during the pandemic in the tiny village as some teachers sent homework by WhatsApp.

This month is not the same as the month before since Novi attends high school this year!🎉 It means Novi's school assistance rise from IDR 175,000 to IDR 300,000 starting this June 2022!😉 While Suci and Uun got IDR 175,000 each of them. Additionally, IDR 100,000 for each one of them to support their family during the pandemic. Although, some people reckon that the pandemic is over, however, here in Asia we have experienced food inflation. Hopefully, with this supplement money could lift up a little burden on their family. Actually, I gave them extra money to give them a reward for their hard hard work. However, my friend, Riche, forget the detail that we wrote to her. Well, next month this little gift will land in the children's hands. For now, keeping it a secret because I want to surprise them!🤐

Same as a month before that the three children who have qualified to receive our assistance come to Riche's house last evening. This time, they were coming together! I could see that those kids immediately become besties once have gotten help from Ichikraft Give and Care. Wait a minute, is that any requirement to get this school assistance? Of course, it is! First that I want to know whether a potential child has the spirit to study despite a poor family situation. This is crucial as I want whoever the one has been chosen, they must eager to endure and embrace the difficulty they have to reach a better life. It means, that although they get our assistance, they have to show me their strength and also the capability they have that makes them different from others. If you are following our update you might notice something special about them. 4 children before Novi, Uun, and Suci who got our help were also amazing. Sadly, I am unable to reach them anymore.

This Mei 2022, the amount of money that each of them (Novi, Uun, and Suci) got is IDR 175,000 for the school assistance. I hope with this little help they are able to buy notebooks, stationery, or it could be a school bag and school shoes. Besides giving them school assistance, since 2020 when the COVID-19 struck our world, I decided to support their family life by giving additional money about IDR 100,000. Therefore, each one of them gets the same amount of money to support their family during the COVID-19 situation.

School assistance for Novi this month (May 2022) is IDR 175,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family due to the COVID-19 situation

Another good news is that start from next month which is June 2022, Novi will be starting her high school life! It means she would get IDR 300,000 monthly for her school assistance from Ichikraft Give and Care! I hope she will get through a high school life smoothly and graduate proudly! Of course, make her parent proud as well!

Many thanks to my dearest friend, Riche, who has always helped me to distribute the school assistance money monthly. As I mentioned in another article that working with me on this project is no salary or any bonus from Ichikraft Give and Care. It means this profession is a work full of heart. Regardless of race, language, and religion; I just want them to study and have a better life in the future; break the "wall" that I call "poverty" by staying at school and studying hard.

April 2022, School Assistance Has Been Distributed

School Assistance this month (April 2022) for Suci is IDR 175,000 additional IDR 100,000 to support her family during the COVID-19 situation, and IDR 300,000 for a special event - Photographed by Riche collections

First of all, Happy Easter!🐣🐇 Today I am going to share a beautiful news from Ichikraft Give and Care! Yes, the 3 children who have been receiving school assistance monthly from us had taken their money. However,  April 2022 is different from another month before!😉

School assistance for this month (19 April 2022) has been distributed at Riche's house - Photographed by Riche's collection

On 19 April 2022 evening, I got a message from Riche that Suci and Novi came to her house and had received their monthly money from us. Meanwhile, Uun; Riche assume that she would come in the next day as she attended an event in her evening school. But she made it this noon (22 April 2022). As I mentioned before in another article that Uun attends 2 schools which are public school (from morning until noon) and evening school. In general, evening school starts from about 3.30 PM or 4 PM until 6PM to 9 PM (it depends on class level and events). I admire Uun who has the courage to enroll in two schools at the same time. Compare to two others, Suci and Novi, Uun's academic record is average, however, she has tried her best to find skill or talent in her. As I mentioned in another article that she was in a volleyball club and her team got the 1st prize in the competition.  Having a full plate and cram schedule, Uun has always been busy. You can imagine, while other children at her age keep busy with social media (update status, posting pictures) and have always kept their smartphones with them, and also wandering around without purpose, meanwhile Uun has never taken a rest to study for a better future by taking two schools at the same time. I can feel it is a hard time for a girl at her age. However, someday her hard work will be worth it.👊🌞 Like Uun; Suci, and Novi, both are working hard for a better life. Yeah, Novi will attend high school this year! I am excited and keep going, girls!🤩🚀

School assistance for this month (April 2022) is IDR 175,000 each, and IDR 100,000 each to support their family due to the COVID-19 situation. Furthermore, this April 2022, my husband and I decided to give IDR 300,000 each for a special event so their family is able to buy chicken meat and buy cookies or make it. Let these children and their families celebrate a special event like others.🤗 If you saw the picture, the kids (Uun, Suci, and Novi) got their dresses that had been ordered last month. Once in a while, let them have a nice pretty dress with good material.😊 They feel happy, and so am I!😊 Each dress has a different price even though I gave them IDR 300,000 each for their dress budget; Uun's dress price is IDR 268,000, Novi's dress price is IDR 248,000, and Suci's dress price is IDR 249,000.

March 2022, School Assistance Has Been Distributed

School assistance for Uun this month (March 2022) is IDR 175,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family due to the COVID-19 situation - Photographed by Riche's collection

Welcome back to Ichikraft Give and Care! Today I want to share our good news which is to make our day a lot of smiles and feel happy. Three children who have received our school assistance got their money.

School assistance for Suci this March 2022 is IDR 175,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family due to the COVID-19 situation - Photographed by Riche's collection

Last Sunday night (20 March 2022), I got a message from my dearest friend, Riche, that all the children (Uun, Suci, and Novi) came to her house and got their monthly assistance from us. If you are following our update, there is a reason why the kids have to come to Riche's house each month to get their assistance's money. Yeah, since Riche got pregnant, she decided to not travel much as the village road is in bad condition to reach those children's houses. Nowadays, her baby boy has grown much and healthy. I am glad about it!🤗 I guess, it is not a big deal if I am in these children's position; coming each month to get school assistance is something much more excited because they can buy school stuff directly after it. Who knows; it could be a notebook, pencil, pen, drawing book, eraser, et cetera. For you who live in a comfort zone, those school stuff is nothing, however, for those children who are come from a low-income family, they need to think carefully before buying them as every day the family fight to survive.

School assistance for Novi this month (March 2022) is IDR 175,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family during the pandemic - Photographed by Riche's collection

Same as a month before, Novi, Uun, and Suci, received IDR 175,000 each for their school assistance. In addition, IDR 100,000 each, we gave them to support their family during this COVID-19 situation. Special March 2022, I made a decision to buy a pretty dress for them. With the help from Riche's hands to find the dress since Riche has a garment business, my wish has come true! You know what, I let the kids choose the dress they want!🌞🎇😊 Yes, I want to give them not only a pretty dress but a good quality. Hopefully, they would happy!✌🙂

Why do I buy a dress for Uun, Suci, and Novi? In the past, after my family was financially broke, my father could not afford to buy a dress for me even the cheap one. I used to ask my father for anything I desire, and he bought it for me even if a silly and weird thing.😄 Since I was in grade 6, I became a quiet girl, had never asked anything including a pretty dress for a special occasion.  At that rough time, nobody asked me whether I had a pretty dress for the special event and bought one for me, no they didn't. I found out it was hurt considering that some of the family members lived in good shape yet they did not much help. I mentioned in my article on The Journey of Ichi's Family that my clothes from grade 3 was still fit in me when I was in my third year of secondary school. What does it mean? It means is that I did not have any clothes to wear and had never bought new clothes frequently; luckily, I had never grown much. That time, buying a pretty dress was just a dream. One of my grandmas was the one who gave me fabric each time, and my other grandma had also given me fabric before she passed away. Whenever she traveled and came back home directly she visited me and gave this special merchandise, 1.5 meters or 2 meters fabric for me so that I could have a new dress for a special event. Although I did not like the fabric texture, colors, the pattern I could not make a complaint and received it with full grace. Since sixth grade, I had started to design my own clothes before sending the fabric to a neighborhood tailor. I have believed, it had a reason for something happening in my life. If my father did not broke, I wasn't able to do design and as result, I am interested in designing things such as handmade ribbon flowers and cat collars). So, yes, because I had a hard time in the past where I could not have a pretty good quality dress, I made a decision that I want to buy a dress for those children this month!✨

February 2022, School Assistance Has Been Distributed

School assistance for Novi this month (February 2022) is IDR 175,000 and IDR 100,000 to support her family during the pandemic - Photographed by Riche

February...are you celebrating Valentine's day? Although it is not my culture, I would like to say "Happy Valentine's Day to all of you...Spread happiness and be kind to others!"🤗 So, I have good news in this lovely month that the 3 children who have received our help took their monthly assistance yesterday. I am glad and relieved they are in good shape because I have always worried about their condition during this unprecedented event (the COVID-19 situation).

School assistance this month (February 2022) has been distributed at Riche's house - Photographed by Riche's collection

Last night, I got a message from my dearest friend, Riche, she informed me all the children, Uun, Suci, and Novi, came together and received their February 2022 school assistance. If you are following our update each month, you would notice this month Uun appeared with 2 other kids, Novi and Suci. For sometimes, Uun has attended another activity which is another class in the evening. For this reason, she has come alone without 2 others when taking the school money at Riche's house. This time is different, Uun looked have spare time and made it come together.

I was also excited about another news that Riche provided me. The exciting news is that Novi has made a decision on where she would go after graduating from secondary school this year. Riche told me that Novi will enroll in a particular high school; in Indonesia, we call it SMK. There is 2 type of school that we can enroll in after secondary school in Indonesia. First is high school which we call SMU, second is SMK; I think it is a similar polytechnic in Singapore. Unlike high school (SMU) where the students study broad subjects, SMK offers some specific programs that students can choose from the first year, for example, computing, cooking & baking, business, finance et cetera. My thinking is that maybe Novi wants to skill something so that she will be able to find a job after graduating from SMK. To be honest, my hope, I hope she has an opportunity and chance to study at a university and hold a degree. However, I think her decision is a good one because she has thought about what she wants to do next. Having one particular skill is essential to have a better life in the future. And the school is the place where we can learn and master that skill. That is why I have believed that "School is a passport to get a better future, bring us from nowhere to somewhere."

This month, these 3 children received IDR 175,000 each for their school assistance, and IDR 100,000 each to support their family due to the COVID-19 situation. Although this year looks the COVID-19 crisis much better where people are able to adjust to the situation because mostly taking vaccination, I am still willing to give them additional money to support their family life, as I mentioned before at least with IDR 100,000 they can use it for buying rice since rice is a staple food in Indonesia.

Many thanks to my lovely friend, Riche, who has helped me to distribute the money for those children. Without her, it is virtually impossible to reach them as I live abroad. I need a hand to find some villager children who have eager to stay in school. Actually, it is not always children from the place I come from. I had asked some of my friends who live in other provinces before for instance in East Java, Sulawesi, and Jambi. However, doing social work that definitely has no money in it and no publicity, well not everyone wants to do it and not everyone can do it either. As a result, only a friend who lived in West Java and 2 from my provinces have the same thought. Today, only one left, Riche. In West Java, my friend passed away so the library project and school assistance had been stopped. The consequence was 3 smart children in West Java had no longer received our assistance. One friend from my province (before Riche joins it), she decided to end her work with us in this project which meant one kid at that place was no longer receiving our school assistance; I was sad that time because that girl is smart and she graduated from primary school that time (2007) and enrolled secondary school. Sometimes, I still wonder how are they up to, I wish I could still help them. But nothing I can do.

Time flies soo fast, we are in 2022 now! Happy New Year to all of you, may your dream come true, do not give up, and keep working on it. For me, a new year with an old dream!😊 To start my year in 2022, I would like to share a happy moment that I hold. Yes, the 3 children who receive our school assistance monthly got their school assistance money a few days ago.

Nowadays, I have been busy with soo many things so I rarely write articles on my blogs or even just check them. But this is a monthly update that I must do as I dedicate myself to this project, Ichikraft Give and Care, where I want to break down the wall that stands in front of children who live in poverty to get an education. The aim is to break the circle and with hope, these children are able to get out of poverty by staying in school.  I have believed, school is a passport to get a better life in the future, bringing us from nowhere to somewhere.

If you have followed our update, basically, Uun, Novi, and Suci, would come to Riche's house at the day. Yeah, usually, they wanted to get their assistance money together. However, as they grow up, they have something else to do, as result, one of them, Uun, takes a separate way and comes alone the next day after the two children, Novi and Suci came. Therefore, Riche sent a message on Thursday night last week (20 January 2022) that Novi and Suci have just taken their money. On the next day (21 January 2022), I got a message from Riche that told me Uun received her school assistance money.

How much school assistance that Ichikraft gives to these children? As all of them sit at the same level which is a secondary school, each got IDR 175,000 for their school assistance, and IDR 100,000 each to support their family during the Covid-19 situation. Yeah, for me, I am still willing to give additional money to support these children's families. At least, they can use it to buy rice with this IDR 100,000 since I consider that rice is essential for their basic daily life.

Many thanks to my dearest Riche, I wish the best for her. One thing that I am proud of her is that she has always wanted to upgrade herself. This spirit is something that not everyone wants to do and can do. Besides taking care of her children with a baby boy and dedicating full time to her school that she built years ago, she runs a business as well. Yeah a few years back, leveling up her degree which means taking a Master's is also her aim; she wants to hold a Master's degree. What an amazing person she is.👊💪✨🙂
